Directions to Ilex House, Bickington, Newton Abbot, Devon, TQ12 6LH
We are approximately 1 mile North West of the village of Bickington inside the Dartmoor National Park but with easy access to the A38 Exeter to Plymouth Road.
Westbound from Exeter/M5
From south end of M5 take A38 to Plymouth and stay on it for 17 miles (ignoring sign A380 Newton Abbot), and then take the A382 Newton Abbot turn off. Take third turning off the roundabout at the end of slip road signposted to Bickington. After nearly three miles continue through the village, down and then up hill, stop at T junction and turn right onto A383 signposted to Plymouth. After only 300 yds turn right again in front of a white cottage, signposted Widecombe 6, Sigford 1½. This takes you over the top of the A38 on a road bridge and up our hill. After ½ mile, as the road nears the top, there is a break in the bank on the left hand side with an open gate recessed from the road. This is the entrance to our driveway.
Eastbound from Plymouth
Approx 25 miles from Plymouth and after passing Ashburton on A38 take next major turn off left, A383 to Newton Abbot. At the top of the slip road, turn left signposted Widecombe and Sigford. Go up the hill and after ½ mile, as the road nears the top, there is a break in the bank on the left hand side with an open gate recessed from the road. This is the entrance to our driveway.
From Newton Abbot
Take A383 Ashburton Road. After approximately 4 miles fork right signposted to Widecombe 6 and Sigford 1 1/2 in front of a white cottage. This takes you over the top of the A38 on a road bridge and up our hill. After ½ mile, as the road nears the top, there is a break in the bank on the left hand side with an open gate recessed from the road. This is the entrance to our driveway.
NB For all of these 3 routes, once you have come up our hill, if you reach a crossroads you have overshot the entrance to our drive.
From Dartmoor
For the adventurous and those with time on their hands, it is perfectly possible to reach our house from a northerly direction via the lanes across Dartmoor.
